Stepping Up for Wildlife: Collaborative Conservation in September 2024

September 2024 was a bustling month for Wildlife Rescue Centre Jogja, filled with collaboration, advocacy, and strategic planning. Despite the challenges of relocating our facility, our team remained steadfast in advancing conservation initiatives and strengthening partnerships.

On September, we conducted a medical check-up for the juvenile Malayan Giant Turtles (Orlitia borneensis) at Gembira Loka Zoo (GLZoo). This initiative ensures the health and well-being of these critically endangered turtles, which are a vital part of our conservation efforts.

We were invited by the 2024 National Seminar KSSL FKH UGM to sponsor a seminar focusing on the endangered Bekantan (Nasalis larvatus). While financial sponsorship was not possible due to our relocation process, our support and expertise in wildlife conservation underscored our commitment to preserving this unique primate and addressing threats like habitat destruction and poaching.

Our participation in the Women in Conservation series on Instagram and LinkedIn showcased the vital role of women leaders in conservation. This platform provided an opportunity to share insights, celebrate achievements, and inspire others to join the fight for biodiversity protection.

Internally, we continued to navigate our transition with a focus on managing social media, addressing administrative challenges, and monitoring project activities in Tebat Rasau. These efforts ensure that our mission remains steadfast, even amidst the complexities of organizational change.

As we step into October, our team is gearing up for more impactful collaborations and programs, including ongoing conservation efforts and preparing for the next phases of our relocation and project implementations. We are grateful to our partners, supporters, and the community for their unwavering support.

Together, we’re not just conserving wildlife; we’re building a legacy of hope and resilience for the future.
