Looking Back, Moving Forward: Reflecting on Successes and Preparing for a Challenging Future

As 2024 comes to a close, December has been a month of reflection, new beginnings, and setting the stage for an impactful year ahead. From international presentations to fostering meaningful collaborations, we are proud to share the milestones that marked the end of the year for WRC Jogja.

This month, WRC Jogja had the exciting opportunity to present our achievements and goals for the coming year to Yayasan Planet Indonesia (YPI). This meeting marked the start of what we hope will be a meaningful and fruitful partnership in 2025. Building strong relationships with like-minded organizations is essential to amplifying our conservation efforts and driving a greater impact.

In addition, Cisca Nurfi’aini represented WRC Jogja at the SOCEAN Workshop hosted by the University of Bern from December 16th to 18th, 2024. The workshop, titled How to Do Social Learning in a Digital World? Designing Inclusive Platform Politics and Infrastructures Towards Environmental Justice,” brought together diverse participants to explore how digital social learning can foster collective action around environmental justice concerns. She presented Empowering Local Communities for Endangered Species Conservation: Integrating Anthropological Approaches and Digital Learning in the Preservation of Malayan Giant Turtle Habitat. This thought-provoking event offered a valuable opportunity to delve into the intersection of technology, learning, and conservation. By participating, Cisca expanded her knowledge on leveraging digital platforms to promote inclusive, collaborative solutions to environmental challenges. These insights will guide WRC Jogja’s efforts in engaging local communities and stakeholders, ensuring that conservation initiatives are not only impactful but also equitable and inclusive.

After completing the required administrative processes, we are thrilled to announce that WRC Jogja is now an official member of WARN (Wildlife Animal Rescue Network) Asia. This membership enhances our network and opens doors for greater collaboration, knowledge exchange, and collective action across the region.

Our team capped off the year with a comprehensive end-of-year meeting—a moment to reflect on the achievements, challenges, and lessons learned throughout 2024. During this meeting, we evaluated various programs, projects, and initiatives, ensuring that our strategic steps this year have positively contributed to our mission. This gathering was not just about reflection but also about planning for the future. Each team member contributed ideas and feedback, acknowledging the hard work and dedication that made this year successful. Together, we charted our goals for 2025, focusing on innovation, collaboration, and strengthening our impact.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our team members for their unwavering commitment and to our partners for their invaluable support throughout this year. As we step into 2025, we are filled with renewed energy and optimism to tackle new challenges and embrace opportunities. Together, let’s continue working towards a brighter future for wildlife conservation.

Stay tuned as we embark on another year of impactful initiatives and inspiring stories!
