We have been running as a wildlife centre since 2003. At 2010, we have ran under YKAY (Yogyakarta Natural Conservation Foundation) as a NGO and not-for-profit.
WRC Jogja is a rehabilitation center for injured animals and confiscated animals. Unlike the zoo, our goals are to release the animals. In addition to reducing the risk of zoonoses, we minimize them to meet people’s needs. We are also doing this to restore their natural behavior. For any other purposes, please contact us via email at [email protected]

WRC Jogja doesn’t have a rescue team. We cooperated with BKSDA (Conservation and natural resource center) to rescue them. Please contact directly to www.bksdajogja.org or call center at 0274-864203.
Please visit and click donate or click adoption to help the centre, or click the wish list if you want to donate our needs.

18 years is the minimum age to become a volunteer in WRC Jogja. If you’re under age (14 years above) could join volunteering under parental supervision or adult supervision. I.e. school group programme with teacher or team guide supervisions. We do have a minimum age because you will work cutting and lifting stuff, which may be hard for under age.
Please check Volunteer page
Regarding our accommodation capacity, you do need to make a booking for the convenience and availability of places to stay during the program.
The minimum stay is one week, but generally volunteers take two weeks until a one month program.
Animals are prone to diseases transmitted by humans, and vice versa. For that, it is necessary to have TB, Hep-A, and Hep-B tests.
Before you arrive at the center, we provide a health check form to find out your dietary issue, and we will provide food that suits your needs. All foods are Indonesian food. But sometimes the chef will cooked you Western food for a variation 🙂
No skills needed. At least you have a sense of caring for the animals and willing to do cleaning up the cages and preparing foods for the animals and making enrichments for them.
We do love your help to improve our centre. Your opinion and action are very appreciated in providing advice to our centre.

Tojeiro volunteered at WRC in 2018 and instantly fell in love. He decided to leave his job in the Netherlands to work alongside our keepers, managing projects and making sure all the animals get the best care possible. During the relocation period, Tojeiro studied animal health management to increase his capacity in the field of animal welfare.
