Throughout April, we continued our journey of learning, reflection, and capacity building to strengthen both our conservation impact and organizational resilience.
As part of the IUCN SSC Asian Species Action Partnership – Network Of Women Collective Program, Cisca and Irna participated in sessions on Vision Setting and Communication. These discussions provided valuable opportunities to reflect on personal and professional aspirations while exploring new approaches to leadership, collaboration, and creating meaningful change in conservation.
To deepen our understanding of the landscape where much of our work takes place, we also participated in the International Symposium on Javanese Culture, organized by the Yogyakarta Sultanate. This year’s theme, Architecture, Spatial Planning, and Territory of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta, offered valuable insights into the connections between culture, landscape, and governance. As we continue strengthening our conservation work through closer engagement with local communities and cultural values, the symposium provided important perspectives on how conservation efforts can be better rooted in Yogyakarta’s unique cultural heritage and history.
Knowledge sharing remains an important part of our organization. Team members who previously attended conservation trainings and capacity-building programs shared key lessons and experiences with colleagues, helping ensure that new knowledge and skills can be applied across our various initiatives and conservation programs.
We also invested in strengthening our communication skills through a Powerful Presentation Training facilitated by trainers from Ambara Arsila Talenta. As our work continues to grow, effective communication is becoming increasingly important—not only for environmental education and public outreach, but also for workshops, conferences, fundraising efforts, and meaningful engagement with partners and stakeholders.
The training brought together not only our team members but also local conservation partners in Yogyakarta, including Konklusi, COP, Endemik, Burung Indonesia, and BISA Indonesia. The event created a valuable space for shared learning, networking, and collaboration among organizations working toward common conservation goals.
Through continuous learning, stronger partnerships, and a deeper appreciation of local culture, we remain committed to developing conservation solutions that are inclusive, collaborative, and sustainable. By strengthening both our people and our connections with the communities we serve, we hope to create a stronger foundation for lasting conservation impact.
