Meet the team
Chairman
Mr.Tarko has led the foundation since its foundation. Before becoming the chairman, he was an experienced journalist with an extensive professional network. In the team, his primary responsibility is to provide a strategical overview of the Centre’s activities.
Secretary
Before joining the foundation, Irna spent a year completing her degree at wildlife health and conservation. She also oversaw the Center’s conservation program for two years as the conservation manager. Now she serves as the foundation’s secretary with an additional duty to supervise the conservation activities within the Centre.
Treasurer
Mr. Hardi is a management expert with many years of experience as a management consultant. Having an interest in nature conservation, now he dedicates himself as the treasurer of the board and supervisor for office administration and operational.
Conservation Manager
Having been in the world of conservation for a long time, Reza has experience living in the Borneo forests to save orangutans. With an anthropological background and a strong interest in conservation, Reza joined to strengthen WRC Jogja team and has many plans for animal release and translocation programs.
Operational Manager
Graduated from Anthropology background, Cisca join the conservation things for a new experience. “It’s challenging and good to know new peoples who willing to help the animals for a better life.” She has a strong marketing and communications background. In charge for all office things in the centre which combined with her love of animals, makes her the perfect person to keep our centre running.
Veterinarian
Though he is new to the wildlife scene, Tommi has years of veterinary experience and is an expert bird-watcher! Getting to work with native birds while being surrounded by wild forest (also full of birds) is a dream come true.
Accountant
Erlinda is the youngest staff member with a fresh mind straight out of high school. She is quite shy, love to learn, and excited to combine her financial know-how with an interest in wildlife conservation.
Marketing and Social Media Staff
Graduated from Accounting a few years ago, he had a good business skills. Joined us to strengthen social media and marketing for WRC Jogja. His active nature and a lot of curiosity make it easy to get along with new people.
Animal Welfare Coordinator
Tojeiro volunteered at WRC in 2018 and instantly fell in love. He decided to leave his job in the Netherlands to work alongside our keepers, managing projects and making sure all the animals get the best care possible.
Head Animal Keeper
Jarwo has been working at WRC since 2002 and has worked his way through various positions from laborer to security to keeper, and now is in charge of all the goings-on in the animal area.
From left to right, let us introduce:
Gun, he is a talented keeper. He is a subsitute keeper when someone takes a day off. Next we have Dedi, the youngest keeper, who is adept at handling small primates. Bob, who prepares food for approximetaly 145 animals every day with the help of additional personnel. Sangsang, our birdman, he is taking care of our eagles, cockatoos, and parrots. Last but not least, we have Ramelan, the father of our 7 orangutans.
Tri is our ‘house mom’ and looks after all the cleaning and upkeep in the office and accommodation area. She cooks all the meals for the volunteers, and at one point was cooking lunch for all the staff everyday!
Risman is a fast learner. As a fresh graduate who is just starting to work, he can do many things such as repairing equipment, gardening, and is also interested in learning new things. Ask him to speak English, he will be happy to talk with you!
Manto the team leader is a jack of all trades at the centre, and is always ready to jump in whenever something needs fixing!
Eko (middle) is the Head of Security. Start from left to right, his members are Suroto, Okta, Arif, and Bambang. He and his team are the first faces you’ll see when you enter WRC’s gates. They are always ready to welcome you with a smile, and make everybody feel safe here.
