Program Magang

We are looking for those experienced in or interested in organic waste management to help us find the best solutions to reduce and manage our waste and make WRC a more eco-friendly establishment. Every day, we sort through heaps of waste produce donated from local supermarkets to pick the best-quality food for our animals. However, the majority of produce is unsuitable and is disposed of, leaving vast amounts of organic waste along with its plastic packaging. Many aspects of waste management around the center could be improved, so we are looking for someone who is passionate about sustainability and the environment to implement protocols at WRC to deal with these issues. You could be involved with composting, making eco bricks, organic gardening, and anything else you can think of!

As biology and forestry interns, you have the exciting opportunity to contribute to the non-medical aspects of animal care and education programs. Your role involves monitoring the behavior and conditions of animals undergoing rehabilitation and expanding upon the animal enrichment program. Alongside the animal welfare coordinator, you will actively participate in planning and implementing enclosure improvement projects, rehabilitation processes, and general animal care. Your involvement also extends to collaborating closely with the conservation education coordinator in developing and facilitating educational programs such as community presentations, school group activities, and even birdwatching. This internship allows you to apply your knowledge in a professional yet fun environment, making a positive impact on both animal welfare and conservation education. So, get ready to dive into the world of biology and forestry, where your skills and passion meet for an unforgettable experience!

We are still a growing organization, and the majority of our funding comes from our volunteer program. Marketing interns will run our Instagram and Facebook accounts, focusing on gaining followers and promoting our programs, especially volunteering. You will update our website and blog, run the virtual adoption program, and help write the quarterly newsletter. We are looking for someone with experience who can implement marketing strategies for both our local and international audiences. Minimum of six weeks for all applicants.

Our center is on a large piece of land mostly covered in forest. Over the years, old pathways and enclosure areas have become overgrown and unused. We are opening up to a broader range of nature lovers with new programs, and our grounds need to be as welcoming and accessible as ever! We are looking for a landscape architecture student with a minimum of one year of experience in landscape design to make our center as beautiful as the animals that inhabit it. You will plan and implement landscaping projects on your own with a small budget.

Tojeiro volunteered at WRC in 2018 and instantly fell in love. He decided to leave his job in the Netherlands to work alongside our keepers, managing projects and making sure all the animals get the best care possible. During the relocation period, Tojeiro studied animal health management to increase his capacity in the field of animal welfare.
