Our Newest Arrival!🐒 Last Thursday a female Lo Our Newest Arrival!🐒 Last Thursday a female Long-tailed Macaque was brought to our centre. Her name is Chila and she is around 1 years old and was bought online when still a baby. The owners kept her inside the house but she bite some of the owners so they didn’t want to take care of her anymore. This is a good reminder that you should never buy wildlife and keep them as pets. They are very cute when still a baby, but they grow fast and can be dangerous to humans without proper care. Chila spent one day in our Animal Observation Room, and the next day we did the medical health check. Now she will stay in our quarantine room for a while awaiting the results of the blood, covid and tbc tests. Never support the wildlife trade!🚫 They belong in the wild with their own family!🌳🐒🐒🌳 ______________________________ Satwa yang baru saja datang di centre kami!🐒 Kamis lalu seekor Monyet Ekor Panjang betina dibawa ke centre kami. Namanya Chila, berusia sekitar 1 tahun dan dibeli secara online ketika masih bayi. Pemiliknya memeliharanya di dalam rumah tetapi si monyet menggigit beberapa pemiliknya sehingga mereka tidak mau merawatnya lagi. Ini menjadi pegingat yang baik bahwa Anda tidak boleh membeli satwa liar dan memeliharanya sebagai hewan peliharaan. Mereka sangat lucu ketika masih bayi, tetapi mereka tumbuh dengan cepat dan bisa berbahaya bagi manusia tanpa perawatan yang tepat. Chila menghabiskan satu hari di Ruang Pengamatan Satwa kami, dan hari berikutnya kami melakukan pemeriksaan kesehatan medis. Sekarang dia akan tinggal di ruang karantina untuk sementara waktu sambil menunggu hasil tes darah, covid dan tbc. Sibin, the Binturong😍 The scientific name of t Sibin, the Binturong😍 The scientific name of this species is Arctictis Binturong. Coming from Greek where Arkt means ‘bear’ and Iktis means ‘weasel’. However, they are neither one of them but are closely related to Palm Civets. The meaning of the word Binturong is unknown since it is derived from a language that is already extinct. In English they are also called Bearcats. ___________________________ Sibin si Binturong Nama ilmiah spesies ini adalah Arctictis Binturong. Berasal dari bahasa Yunani di mana Arkt berarti 'beruang' dan Iktis berarti 'musang'. Namun, mereka bukan salah satu dari mereka tetapi terkait erat dengan Musang. Arti kata Binturong tidak diketahui karena berasal dari bahasa yang sudah punah. After a successful rehabilitation of 3 months, WRC After a successful rehabilitation of 3 months, WRC Jogja and @bksda_yogya released Jalu the Crested Goshawk. Jalu has been released together with a Changeable hawk-eagle from SFF, at the Bird Village in Jatimulyo. The community will take care of the post monitoring of these birds. Jalu came to our centre in July of this year. He was kept as a pet in a small cage for some time and was not able to hunt by himself. Besides that he still showed some wild behaviors, therefore it was easier for us to teach him the necessary skills he needs to survive in the wild. Another new arrival at our centre! We received a Another new arrival at our centre! We received a female Asian Palm Civet from it’s owner. The owner bought her online when she was still very young. Now she is around 4 years old and overweight. She is very used to humans so it will take a lot of time and patience trying to rehabilitate her. We hope that it will still be possible to release her back in the wild one day. We did the medical check up and besides her weight she is healthy.
