How long does it take for volunteering in general?

The minimum stay is one week, but generally volunteers take two weeks until one month program.

Another new arrival at our centre!

We received a female Asian Palm Civet from it’s owner. The owner bought her online when she was still very young.

Now she is around 4 years old and overweight. She is very used to humans so it will take a lot of time and patience trying to rehabilitate her. We hope that it will still be possible to release her back in the wild one day.

We did the medical check up and besides her weight she is healthy. She’s on a special diet and stays in quarantine for a while before we move her to a normal enclosure.

At this moment we have 5 different species of eagles in our care🦅

1. Changeable Hawk Eagle
2. Crested Serpent Eagle
3. Dark Fase Changeable Hawk Eagle
4. Crested Goshawk
5. Black winged Kite

In total we have 11 eagles right now with 3 of them in our pre release cages🦅

New arrival at WRC Jogja🐒 Last Saturday a male

New arrival at WRC Jogja🐒

Last Saturday a male long tailed macaque was brought to our centre by his owner.

The macaque was kept on a chain but managed to escape many times. So the owner decided that he couldn’t take care of him anymore.

We did a medical check up and besides the damage on his waist from the chain, the macaque is physically healthy.

He will stay in quarantine now waiting for the Covid-19, blood and tbc results. When the results are good and he finished his tbc series, we will move him to a normal enclosure.

Please remind yourselves that wildlife belong in the wild and that they are NOT pets.

Pendatang baru di WRC Jogja

Sabtu lalu seekor monyet ekor panjang jantan dibawa ke tempat kami oleh pemiliknya.

Monyet itu diikat dengan rantai tetapi berhasil melarikan diri berkali-kali. Jadi pemiliknya memutuskan bahwa dia tidak bisa merawatnya lagi.

Kami melakukan pemeriksaan kesehatan. Selain luka di pinggang akibat rantai, monyet itu sehat secara fisik.

Saat ini dia akan tinggal di karantina sambil menunggu hasil Covid-19, tes darah dan tbc. Jika hasilnya bagus dan dia menyelesaikan seri tbc-nya, kami akan memindahkannya ke kandang biasa.

Ingatlah bahwa satwa liar hidupnya adalah di alam liar dan mereka BUKAN hewan peliharaan.

Tomwek - Gibbon, adalah salah satu satwa yang kami rawat di WRC Jogja. Setiap harinya ia dan satwa lainnya membutuhkan buah segar dan juga vitamin.

Dikarenakan pandemi yang berkepanjangan, program volunteer yang dapat mensupport kegiatan operasional kami terpaksa harus dihentikan sementara demi kesehatan satwa dan juga staf WRC Jogja agar tetap dapat beraktivitas dengan aman.

WRC Jogja bekerjasama dengan @tees_indonesia mencoba memenuhi kebutuhan tersebut dengan menjual merchandise untuk sahabat konservasi.

Setiap keuntungan merchandise yang terjual di @tees_indonesia diunakan untuk memenuhi semua kebutuhan nutrisi satwa yang ada di WRC Jogja serta biaya operasional lainnya.

Tomwek - Gibbon, is one of the animals that we take care of at WRC Jogja. Every day he and other animals need fresh fruit and vitamins.

Due to the prolonged pandemic, the volunteer program that can support our operational activities had to be temporarily suspended for the health of the animals and also the staff of WRC Jogja so that they can continue their activities safely.

WRC Jogja in collaboration with @tees_indonesia try to meet those needs by selling merchandise for conservation friends.

Every profit from merchandise sold at @tees_indonesia is used to meet all animal nutritional needs at WRC Jogja as well as other operational costs.

Happy World Orangutan Day!🦧🦧

2 days ago, WRC Jogja and BKSDA Yogyakarta translocated Boni & Beni back to Kalimantan.

After being in our care for many years they finally had the opportunity to go back home.

Boni came to our centre in 2006 after being rescued as an illegal pet and Beni came to our centre in 2013, also as an illegal pet. Due to the many trauma’s they suffered from being a pet, rehabilitation to eventually release them back into the wild was impossible. We expected them to live at WRC Jogja for the rest of their lives and we tried to give them the best life possible while being in our care.

Until this year we got the news that @pso_arsari has a special program for older male orangutans that can’t be released, like Boni & Beni.

There they are preparing a large protected island for these male orangutans where they can live almost freely but still get the support from humans. For Boni & Beni that is the closest they get to freedom and they can retire happily in the forest.

We wish Boni and Beni all the best and want to thank @pso_arsari, @bksda_yogya and @bksda_kaltim for their support❤️
