Vulnerable wildlife comes to WRC Jogja from other NGOs, Indonesian police, or private owners. We provide a safe, nurturing home until they are released, transferred to other facilities, or sometimes for the rest of their lives.
We bring awareness about conservation to the community, while providing crucial jobs to locals.
In 2022, we obtained a total of Rp 715.634.665,- from various sources including from the project grants, direct donation, adoption, sponsors, and other sources such as selling merchandise and crowdfunding. Those funds were then used to meet the daily operating costs of the centre, such as to provide care for animals, staff salary, and maintenance of facilities.
Also to be used for translocation and release, as well as the education activities and staff capacity building.
The percentages for each expense category are shown in the graphic.
WRC Jogja is a not-for-profit rescue and rehabilitation center that houses approximately 150 animals taken from the illegal wildlife trade within the island of Java, Indonesia. We work to save protected wildlife from illegal ownership, injury, or wildlife markets and aim to return them to the wild.
Unfortunately, many animals would not survive in their wild habitat due to disabilities, old age, or unnatural behaviors, so we offer sanctuary for them to live out their lives in a safe and loving environment as close to their natural home as possible.
Our volunteer program is designed especially for everyone who cares about the sustainability of wildlife. This is a rare opportunity not only to experience the joys of nature and wildlife but also the hardships.
